First class

The last week I gave my first class, this was in pairs, I was working with a friend named Gloria, today we were given the feedback from our teacher, the evaluation was divided in three areas, first the planning, we did our planning many times until it was good, so in this point we were in high spirits about our grades. After that we had the part of our materials, although I though that we had done a great job it seems to be that there is still a great chance for improvement. with the materials I feel that I can do a better job if I am able to do attractive and reusable materials.

Finally the way we delivered our class, we were working in pairs but our evaluations on this area were individual, I was the first to start the class, and most of the activities that I had planned went as I wanted, yet it looks like the main setback in this area is my self, this because without any previous experience on the teaching area I was unable to attain the complete attention of my students, also there were some moments in which the discipline was lost. also from what my peers told me i did not seem confident nor enthusiastic about the class, this is my greatest challenge to overcome next time i teach, since I have always been unenthusiastic about many things a great change is necessary to overcome this weakness. 

I will face this challenge that is coming with everything I have in order to grow as person and as teacher.

This is my partner Gloria and me while we were developing the class, not everything went as it was supposed to, but is our challenge to improve and to grow as teachers, at the end we had a good time on our first teaching practice.

First contact

This past week we had our first contact with the children, we did not give classes we just did some activities to make the children feel comfortable and with the feeling of wanting to go back next week. This also was a strategy to measure the level of English that the children posses, I was stunned when I found out that they had a level of English that was higher that what I expected.

Most of the time I offer my self as volunteer, and so I did this time. While being the first can be a frightening experienced to some people, I find that is quite interesting. I proceed with the greetings and my introduction, then the children introduce themselves. I chose to do the "hot potato" activity, in summary everything went as planned, with the exception that the first child that was asked to do an activity did not do it, now I have some countermeasures if this happens again.

This week is my first class with this group, I hope everything goes great.

 For me this was one of the best experiences that I have had so far in my career.

Workshop

Yesterday we went to a workshop to increase our skills to interact with other people, I think that this will help us not only as teachers, but also as persons, because we will be able to communicate in a better way.

At the end of the workshop we took the picture below. It was a great activity and I would love to do it again.
